I drive my Mini Cooper and I feel souper dooper.

Oh dear, not the most inspired of musical lyrics but Madonna's nonetheless. She obviously feels so strongly about her Mini Cooper S that she felt the need to include it in the songwords of the American Life song.

After racking up an estimated 50 parking fines in her Mini and BMW 7-Series it seems she is not the only celebrity to not want to park her treasured car too far out of sight. Singer Lily Allen has recently been reported to have had slanging matches outside her London home over parking her Mini in the street. Apparently, simply owning a Mini is enough status to not need to feed parking meters - or so she thought!

Other celebrity owners include Elijah Wood. Ok, he may be a hobbit but thats not a necessary requirement for owners of the new Mini Cooper D Clubman. With a huge 930 litre luggage capacity space is not compromised for style. And this version has style by the shed load!

Double doors at the back mirror the original estate but many innovations have been included on this Mini to bring it bang up to date. A split drivers door and folding back seats allow for easy access with plenty of storage and with the seats in the upright position, the Mini Clubman can comfortably accommodate 5 adults.

Its sporty reputation has not been lost and standard equipment to back this up includes; Dynamic Stability Control for optimum traction, a sophisticated suspension system, the latest ABS system, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, brake assist, cornering brake control, 4 disc brakes and run flat tyres. With low ground clearance, a top speed of 120 mph and lively acceleration, this model looks and feels as sporty as you would expect it to.

As far as the exterior is concerned, subtle updates include double rear wipers and chrome handles. As ususal, the Mini Clubman comes in a choice of designer colours and a choice of roof design including the nations favourite - the Union Jack - and also a fun heli-pad design. Bi-Xenon technology is integrated to provide twice the output from the dazzle free headlamps and this comes as an optional extra.

Inside, various colourways can be chosen to include black, cream, blue, yellow or red as well as that classic oak trim which can be substituted with brushed alloy, fluid silver, fine white silver or piano black - if you really had to. Sports seats, rain sensors with automatic headlight activation, heated seats and bluetooth control on a leather steering wheel are very cool optional extras to make even short journeys a true driving experience.

Immediately saving money on tax with its impressively low emissions at 109g/km of Co2, all due to the auto stop/start function. Fuel consumption is also set at a staggering 68.9 mpg. Bugatti EB 18-3 Chiron - Only One Ever Made

The 1999 Bugatti EB 18-3 Chiron is a prototype car that was designed by Giorgetto Giuaro and was designed on a platform from the Lamborghini Diablo VT. The name of the car, Chiron, is from a famous Bugatti race driver named Louis Chiron. Being a prototype car the Chiron was the only one ever made.

The Chiron is a very aerodynamic car as it has curves from bumper to bumper and has a very low to the ground type of body. The Chiron features a rear engine and the storage trunk is in the front of the car. The Chiron is a 2-seater coupe and the interior of the Chiron is pure class as Bugatti used the finest materials like the best leather and wood. Inside the cabin of the Chiron there are two types of leather, which are Blu Pacifico (blue) and Sabbia (yellow.) The Chiron's instrument panel is constructed of aluminum alloy. The trunk in the front of the Chiron has an individual luggage set that fits perfectly in it.

The Chiron concept car is constructed of carbon fiber, which makes the car very lightweight. The color of the paint is Blue Cote d'Azur as it gives the car a very sporty sleek look. The traction capabilities on the Chiron are excellent featuring a permanent 4-wheel drive and 20 inch wheels. The tires in the front are 265/30 and 335/30 in the rear. The Chiron has a 3 stage automatically raised rear spoiler that reduces the lift on the rear axle giving the car maximum traction. Since the Chiron is a low to the ground body design and made up of lightweight carbon fiber and aluminum it allows the for ultimate quickness off the line while still having excellent handling capabilities.

The powerful engine on the Chiron is an 18 cylinder 6.3 liter that cranks out 555 horsepower and accelerates from 0-60 in 5 seconds, hitting a maximum speed of 186 mph. The direct injection engine has a displacement of 6.3 liters, an output of power of 408 kW, and a maximum torque of 650 Newton meters. The engine in the Chiron is the same engine that was used in the EB118 and EB218 concept cars.

The steering wheel in the Chiron is a small spoke model, which is placed in front of two large dials and two smaller dials on the central tunnel, where there is a lever for the open gate coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There are four valves for every cylinder in the 18 cylinder Chiron so there is a total of 72 valves. The compression ratio is 11.5:1, the bore is 3.00 inches and the stroke is 2.98 inches.

The Bugatti EB 18-3 prototype looked as good as it handled with its distinct color and classy design of the interior. The performance capabilities on this supercar are second to none as Bugatti created a classic with the Chiron that was first shown at the 1999 Frankfurt International Motor Show.

If you're looking for a big pick up that's got plenty of power and room in the back, the Ford F250 XLT 4×2 certainly fits the bill. While the Ford F250 is big and rugged, it's a different story once you climb inside the cabin. The F250 has been a popular choice in Australia for many years and it seems that this will be unlikely to change any time soon.

The Ford F250 XLT 4×2 is a huge luxury pick up truck that dwarfs over the Japanese models such as the Toyota Hilux and the Mitsubishi Triton. The F250 is not only a lot bigger; it's much more expensive as well. In fact, a new F250 XLT 4×2 will set you back over $62,000, so if you're after one of these behemoths, you may just have to look for a good one owner used vehicle.

The Ford F250 XLT 4×2 is available in a Super Cab and Crew Cab version. They are powered by a 5.4 litre V8 petrol engine, so if you are concerned about rising fuel prices, you may need to look at something a little smalle, and in diesel. The V8 engine is coupled to a four speed automatic transmission.

If you like a little comfort when you're behind the wheel of your pick up, then the F250 shouldn't disappoint. Inside the spacious cabin of both the Super Cab and the Crew Cab, you'll find premium cloth trim seats, six disc, in dash CD player, air conditioning and a fully adjustable, soft feel steering wheel as standard equipment. Cruise control is also standard as are power windows and remote entry.

Safety options include four wheel ABS braking as well as driver and front passenger airbags. The Ford F250 also has a limited slip diff for when you're driving on the rough stuff or in hazardous weather conditions.

Both versions of the Ford F250 are powered by a 5.4 litre V8 engine that produces 194 kw of power at 4,500rpm and produces a hefty 475Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. The Buick Riviera that was released and sold in the year I was born, 1965, was quite a vehicle. It was the last year for the "first generation" Riviera model - and by far the best. A unique, recognizable body style that encompassed a spacious cabin and housed a powerful V8 engine has now become a sought-after gem of classic car collectors. I was fortunate enough to have one for a few months in my youth. Here are some of its power stats:

*0-60 in 8 seconds *Quarter mile in 16 seconds *Top speed observed 115 MPH *Mileage 13.2 MPG

With a 401 Wildcat under the hood, I had no trouble getting where I wanted to go. And while the body was large, it was quite maneuverable thanks to the standard equipment power steering and stiff heavy-duty suspension. And who says getting there fast can't be in style? Check out some of the features it came with:

*Front bucket seats *Bucket-style rear seats *Cruise control *Tilt steering wheel *Center console floor-shifter & storage comp. *Power windows, including wing-window! *Driver side 4-way power seat *Air conditioning *AM/FM radio with power antenna

This 1965 car had more stuff than my 1985 Toyota did! I can remember cranking up the radio with the cruise control on doing 75 while adjusting my power seat, the tilt wheel, and the power wing windows. Ah to be young again - those were the days.

But the real feature that made the 1965 Buick Riviera stand out from all the other years were the hidden headlights. Tucked out of sight by the clam-shell covers that opened and closed automatically on the outer edges of the vehicle, they were moved back into the grille for all future body styles (where they had been the previous 2 years.

Back in the mid-80's these cars were a lot easier to find, but there are some original vehicles still sitting in driveways out there is suburban and rural America. You might be able to pick one up for $1,000 if you do your homework. Less populated areas away from big metro cities are your best bet for discovering one of these hidden gems.

Find one, invest some time and/or money into restoring it, and you will have something special. It's a good investment too; you just can't lose restoring classic American cars.

There is another unique Riviera worth mentioning here, and that is the 1972 model, otherwise known as the "torpedo back." A neighbor-mechanic of mine told me they love those things in Las Vegas (this was in 1985). I have never owned one of those - not yet anyway!

A two-seat GT that Ferrari built was the 250 GT Coupe Pininfarina. The Ferrari Pininfarina was named the 250 GT Boano, which was a coupe. The Ferrari 250 GT California is a beautiful car that was featured in the hit movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 is informally called the Ferrari Daytona, in reference to the 24 Hours of Daytona car race, which the Ferrari team won in 1967. For lovers of speedy cars, the Daytona could reach zero to sixty miles per hour in a minuscule 5.4 seconds. A 365 GTB/4 was driven from New York to Los Angeles in just under 36 hours in a race in 1971.

The Ferrari 250 GTO is considered to be one of the finest sports cars ever built. Their value has skyrocketed, and if one happens to become available its cost would be in the millions. Ferraris such as these make an excellent investment.

Lancia Stratos Historic special stage rallying continues to grow in popularity in the U.K. Events regularly see entries of 90+ cars of varying ages. Cars are grouped into classes depending on age and engine capacity.The Historic class is for cars first registered before December 31st 1967 , Post Historic is for cars first registered between 1st January 1968 and 31st December 1974 and Classic is for cars first registered between 1st January 1975 and 31st December 1981. These sections are further divided into engine capacity classes. All cars must use a tyre of 70% aspect ratio or more and the only modifications allowable are those that were used at the time of the cars original motorsport use and must have been used in rallying. All of this means that costs are kept down while the closeness of competition is maintained.

Events are predominantly loose surface forest rallies ( mostly in Wales )with some ashphalt rallies ( including the Isle of Man) included for an even better championship.

This is a full blown rally series not a leisurely drive in the country the cars are driven as fast as possible the only difference between them and modern WRC cars is their age!

The season is rounded off niceley by the R.A.C. ( Roger Albert Clark ) rally which lasts 3 days in takes in yorkshire, cumbria , scotland and kielder much like the old Lombard RAC rally. Recent competitors have been Jimmy McRae , Stig Blomqvist and Mark higgins. Cars vary from the ultra succesful Mk1 Escort through to the fabulous Lancia Stratos of Steve Perez.There is also a classic section which covers slightly more modern cars e.g. Mk2 Escort etc but no four wheel drive cars allowed so plenty of sideways action.

2- You will want to ask about procedures that may be required by the rental company. Many companies require that the car be fueled up before its return, if this is not done, they will charge you extra for it. It may also be in your best interest to ask what the fee would be if the car is needed for longer than expected as well as what the rate is for late drop off.

3- If you have personal auto insurance, call your agent to see if you are insured with a rental car as well. This will allow you to save money by turning down the insurance offered by the rental company at the time of vehicle pick up.

4- Finally, you have chosen the company and the car, its time to pick it up. Make sure that you have the paper work that you will need. Most companies will require you to show your drivers license, be sure to have it. Also, your proof of auto insurance, if you will be turning their insurance down. A major credit card is necessary; if you are not using cash to rent your car, do not count on them taking a check.

5- Be sure to read the contract and ask questions about anything that you do not understand. It's better to take sometime at the counter or on the phone to pin down the details, than to think you got it and have to deal with the company in the event of an accident. Ask questions!

6- Make sure you know all the rules and regulations on the car as for when you bring the car back to the company when you have finished it they cannot demand money of you for a reason you are not aware off. and incase you crash or are in a accident you need to know what to do.

The vehicles that use two power sources in conjunction with one another are called hybrid automotives or hybrid vehicles. The history of hybrid power technology is very old. It dates back to the time when diesel electric submarines were first used.

Now the question arises that why it was needed. The answer is simple, it was realized that an average person would not be able to afford gasoline in the near future. How it works?

Now the question arises how the hybrid vehicle can deliver these types of performances when they have such a small engine. They do so by using lightweight materials like carbon fiber composites, low-rolling resistance tires and advanced aerodynamics to reduce drag. The hybrids can even turn the gasoline engine off when not needed such as when stopping at traffic lights. Some vehicles even use the electric power to gain a speed of 30 to 40 KM/h. Some vehicles also use regenerative braking. By this method when breaks are applied, the car decreases the speed by cutting some amount of power. This power is then used by the generator to generate electric power that can be stored for later use.

Pontiac GTO The Greatest Muscle Car of All Time

A royal blue 1967 GTO with 325 hp, 3 deuces and 4 on the floor, one of the most famous muscle car during the high-performance automobile history. Guys love the looks and the speed while the girls loved the guys who own the GTO. Just say GTO, people knew it was from Pontiac. It was also known as "The Goat", "The Legend" and "The Great One". There was a even a song called Little GTO that summed up what the GTO was all about. Prior to 1964, high speed performance cars were full-size hardtops and sedans that had the weight of a Sherman tank but had the largest displacement engines available. They were a little slow off the line, but once you got that tank rolling, they were like a runaway freight train.

Factory Hot Rods became real. In October of 1963, the GTO was born. Pontiac offered the GTO option for only $295. They quietly added to the option list of the 1964 Pontiac Tempest/LeMans. The GTO option package included a 325-horsepower 389-cubic-inch V8 with dual exhausts, a Carter AFB four-barrel carburetor, a mild hydraulic camshaft, and the kind of whip lashing neck pain street-grabbing torque that left a smile on your face. Other standard features included a manual three-speed transmission with a Hurst shifter (in those days the Hurst shifter was not only very good but also very cool), a heavy-duty clutch (very much needed), heavy-duty suspension, US Royal red-line tires, a 3.23:1 rear axle ratio, twin hood scoops, and an assortment of GTO emblems. The GTO emblem itself was just as famous as the car itself.

Body Styles were important. Pontiac provided the GTO option on three LeMans bodies, the two-door coupe, hardtop, and convertible. More hardtops were produced and shown to be the most popular than the combined total of the coupes and convertibles. Engines with the single four-barrel carburetor outsold the Tri-Power models by a margin of three to one. I still remember the sound of my three deuces sucking air when the gas pedal was on the floor. Needless to say, you could also see the gas gauge move down toward empty. Fortunately, gas was only $0.20 a gallon. Can you imagine owning one today and driving it like a teenage of the 1960's?

What Made The GTO So Coveted? Some things you never forget such as my 1967 GTO with 3 deuces. It was a good thing it had a windshield because I would have had bugs stuck to my teeth from grinning so much. The thrill of standing still, shifting into first gear, revving up that sweet engine and letting out the clutch and being plastered to the back of the seat was pure adrenaline pumping. That was my first experience of "pulling G's". Last time I felt that type of adrenaline rush was during chopper auto-rotations in Nam. That was 40 years ago and I still love my GTO. Maybe it is the legend. Maybe we have gotten the legend mixed up with reality. All I know is I can't help but smile when I remember my little GTO.

It is hard to explain to my children why it was so special. I owned a 1955 Ford though it was pretty it just didn't have the appeal of the GTO. The royal blue was my favorite. I have a friend whose color was plum. Can you remember vinyl seats? I can! They were cool looking and very hot functionally. I remember leaving my skin on the seat many times getting out that car. Getting in the summer meant either cooking your legs or trying to keep a towel in the car to sit on. Once you started up that 389, you were transported to another world. The purr of that engine, the feel of the Hurst shifter and watching the gas needle drop was worth all the pain of sitting on a hot seat. What hot seat?

How Do You Get A Piece of History Today? There are many GTO's still available that are being offered by GTO lovers who have been taken care of by their lovers. You can find them on the web.

Pontiac also has brought back the name of the GTO. They are still pretty fast. In the long run against the 1964 GTO, they can outrun them for the distance but put the two together on a quarter mile strip and the early muscle car is still king. There is just something about the Goat. Once you drive one, old or new, you just have to own one.

The Hummer’s conceptualization began in 1979. It was basically being designed for the US army and was to be built as a High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). At that time many companies were asked to put forth their best designs for the same. Out of the many that presented their ideas, the three that were chosen were those of General Dynamics, Teledyne and AM (American Motors) General. But this was just the beginning for the companies to prove their worth. The army was very demanding in wanting a vehicle not only of high quality but also that could withstand any kind of pressures, glide through any kind of terrain, and that would be light and easy to maintain! And voila AM General was able to give the most supreme prototype and in the least possible time! Their model called the Hummvee, proved to be just what the army had commanded. It came out with flying colors in the various tests to gauge its superiority. Then the first Hummvees, that was around 55,000 of them, were given for production over a period of 5 years in 1983 to AM General. AM General won this race too and within just 6 months the Hummvee was ready for use. With time the general public too could not resist the desire to drive these Humvees. Thus AM General decided to come out with a civilian version of the Humvee called the Hummer. In December 1999 the Hummer brand and the authority to market and distribute it were sold off to General Motors by AM General. AM General however still manufactures the Hummer.

The Hummer is an SUV-a sports utility vehicle and is the rage with those who are fond of sturdy, long and rough and tough cars. The Hummer seems to have no competitor in this area. The first and original Hummer is now called the H1. It is said that the Hummer was made as a result of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s persuasion as he had seen the Humvees and was very impressed. The popularity of the Hummer is such that the US boasts of several groups and clubs of Hummer owners who come together and drive them either for recreation or for some good causes. Well why good causes, read on to find out. As the Hummer is well known for its great strength and durability, it is often employed in disaster hit areas. The Land Rovers are originally British vehicles and have a manufacturing unit at Solihull in England. The first Land Rover was made in 1948 in England itself. It was designed by Maurice Wilks. He is known to have been inspired by an American jeep that he had seen at Wales. The first car was in fact itself called the Land Rover. But as time progressed, Land Rover became a brand that took to manufacturing newer cars under it. The Land Rover has passed through many hands, from the Rover group to the Premier Automotive Group, which is a part of the Ford Motor Company, and currently owns it.

If you hear the Land Rover’s rich history, you are sure to exclaim, “The Land Rover almost sounds like best out of waste!” And the reasons are plenty. The body of the Rover is very light and is made from an alloy called ‘Birmabright’ that is made from aluminium and magnesium. This alloy is extremely rust-resistant. These vehicles were in reality, forced to be made from aluminium, as they were made in the post war periods, where there was little steel and surplus aluminium available. This alloy was also found to be softer than steel and so could bend and mould easily, requiring less number of tools. Another peculiar thing about these cars was that, the earlier vehicles were mostly of green color. This was due to the excess of green paint available after the war! The military used this color to paint the aircraft cockpits! Who would think that a world class SUV would have been made in such a way!
